Cheryl Rae Spear August 22,1939 - November 24, 2022 Cheryl Spear (Fisher) of Ames, Iowa died on November 24th, 2022, at Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone, Iowa. A graveside service will be held at Turner Cemetery (1306 290th St. Montour, Iowa 50173) on Friday, December 2, 2022, at 1:30 p.m. Cheryl was born August 22nd, 1939, in Garwin, Iowa to Kenneth and Juanita Fisher. Cheryl was one of four children, being the youngest of three girls and a younger brother. Cheryl was raised on the family farm in Garwin, Iowa and learned early on what it took to live/work on a farm. She could out work most men and was never afraid to get her hands dirty. Cheryl met and fell in love with Russell Hale Spear. The all-star state football player from Tama-Toledo school district. The two went on to marry and to this union four children were born. Douglas (Diane Annette) Spear of Ames, Dianne Lynne Spear of Ames, Dennis (Rochelle) Spear of Fussa, Toyoko Japan and Dawn Spear of Iowa Falls. Cheryl worked at McFarland Clinic in the Obstetrics department with Dr. Birdsall and Dr. Munson for over 36 years as a nurse. and book. The farm stead in Roland, Iowa that Cheryl and Russ had established in the early 80's soon became the place that brought everyone together. Whether it was to tend to the orchard, football field size garden or to the many cows, pigs, and chickens that lived on the farm or to just visit and relax. Many relatives staying for weeks at a time, and almost always for the Fourth of July celebrations. Many kids, grandkids and great grand kids have memories of working or playing at the farm that will be forever cherished. All though Cheryl succumbed to complications from a broken hip and Alzheimer's Disease that she bravely endured for over 7 years. She's no longer in pain and is no longer without a voice. May you tend to God's Garden now in heavenly peace. Those left to cherish her memories are her children (Doug, Dianne, Dennis, and Dawn) 6 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and her sisters (Margorie, Elaine). Cheryl is proceeded in death by her husband, Russell, her brother Dwight and her parents, Kenneth, and Juanita Fisher. Following her wishes, Cheryl will be cremated and laid to rest with her husband Russell at the Turner Cemetery in Garwin, Iowa.
