John Alan Milton
John Alan Milton, age 83, of Quincy, died on Monday, December 12, 2022 at 11:36 p.m. in Blessing Hospital. Born in Decatur on March 2, 1939, the third child and second son of George and Betty (Keck) Milton - John was born premature and the doctor said, "You better give him a name. I don't think he's going to make it." John received his GED and joined the Army in 1957, where he served honorably as a helicopter mechanic in Hawaii. He became the top salesman in the appliance department in the Quincy Sears. He later transferred to the Sears store in Chesterfield, MO, where he served the remainder of his career, retiring in 1999. He moved back to Quincy in 2017. John married Mary Lou Wingate, and they adopted two children, Mark Milton and Laura (Cantrell) Milton, from St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, IL. He later married Rebecca Rosendale and had two sons: Jon A. Milton and Mathew Nickolas Milton. John was preceded in death his parents, George and Betty (Keck) Milton; a brother, Stephen Milton; his first wife, Mary Lou Simons; and a grandson, Nate Gilbert.
Services: A celebration of life will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. at the Quincy Elks Club, 311 N. 2nd St., with military honors provided by American Legion Post 37.
