Alice Regina Dempsey

Alice Regina Dempsey, age 93, of Fowler, died Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at 5:54 am in Good Samaritan Home. Alice was born May 11, 1929 in Moline, IL, the daughter of Fred and Frances Deters Winking. She married Edward J. Dempsey on November 10, 1951 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on April 7, 2016. Alice had been employed as a professional clothier. She began her career at Eli Walker Company, but then moved to Schemming's, where she worked as a tailor. Alice continued men's clothing alterations at Lincoln's Store for Men and Forbes Clothiers, where she worked for the next 26 years. Alice then took a position as head tailor for Joseph A. Banks Clothiers, where she would remain until her retirement. Alice was a devout member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Altar Society and the quilting group. She also spent her time volunteering with ice cream socials and card parties. In her spare time, Alice enjoyed bowling in her younger years. Most of all, she loved to quilt, and she made quilts for all of her family, including baby quilts for all of her great-grandchildren.
