Donald C. Shipe

Donald C. Shipe, 90, of Phoenix, AZ, passed away on February 18, 2023. Don was born in Bedford, Pennsylvania on May 25, 1932, to William S. and Katie Brill Shipe. Don was one of ten children who predeceased him: Mildred Shipe Dunbar, William Charles Shipe, Mary Shipe Helsel, Mattie Shipe Lee, Harold Shipe, Earl Shipe, Lloyd Shipe, Esther Shipe Ford, and Grace Shipe Blackburn and had nineteen nieces and nephews. Don graduated from Bedford High School in 1951, and from Peirce Junior College, Philadelphia, in 1957. He served 16 months in Korea as a Chaplain's Assistant July 1953 - October 1954. Don worked for Bethlehem Steel as a field supervisor and worked a year with Greenland Contractors in Thule and Sonderstrom, Greenland on a government project. He later spent six months touring 15 countries in Europe. Upon his return to Philadelphia in January, 1961, he was employed by Gulf Oil Corp. as an accounts receivable adjustment clerk. Don moved to Phoenix, AZ, in 1968 and worked many years at Valley National Bank and Rio Salado College. Don traveled the world and was blessed with an amazing life. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 5th with the Funeral Service starting at 3:00 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church, 1875 N. Central Ave., Phoenix. A reception will follow at the Church.
