Grant J. Hones, 44, unexpectedly passed away from a sudden brain aneurysm at his home in Madison, WI on Tuesday, June 11th 2024. He was born on April 10, 1980. As a child, he loved the outdoors, enjoyed camping, and riding the trails. He graduated from Antigo High School with the Class of 1998. Grant had a passion for computers, BMWs, radio-controlled airplanes, drones, and 3D printing. His tech expertise and skills continued into his adult life. His wife, Molly (Frisch), and Grant were looking forward to traveling to Japan for their 6th wedding anniversary in March to see the cherry blossoms. Their marriage was filled with love, support, courage in the face of difficulty and adventure. Their travels took them from the Olympic ski hills of Whistler, Canada; to the bright beaches of Riviera Maya, Mexico; and to the sand dunes, tall buildings, and bright lights of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. They also visited numerous National Parks and Monuments, most recently the National Mall on Memorial Day in Washington D.C. ank of 3rd Class Petty Officer as an Aviation Electronics Technician and developed life-long friends, some of whom preceded him in death. Honorably discharged from the US Navy, Grant was a successful contractor and used his unique skill set to support many operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. He returned to Madison, WI to pursue a deeper understanding of electronics, engineering, and computers. He graduated with an associate degree from Madison College. He was called again to support the US Military and US State Department at embassies in Iraq and Afghanistan. After returning to the US for good, Grant supported the 128th Air Refueling Wing in Milwaukee, and the State of Wisconsin as Technical Services Radio Specialist. Grant is survived by his wife, Molly, and dog, Penny; parents, Dan and Peggy (Lucas) Hones; sister, Elizabeth (Hones) Worrell, husband Ryan and their 3 children-Los Angeles, CA; brother, David Hones, wife Megan (Caley) Hones and their 3 children-Plymouth, WI; father and mother-in-law, Jim and Rebecca Frisch; sister-in-law, Andrea Frisch, (Ryan Nell)-Onalaska, WI. Grant is also survived by many loving uncles, aunts, cousins, friends, and chosen family. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 24 at 3 p.m. followed by military honors at the Bradley Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held on Monday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
