Alma Marilyn Risdon, of Antigo, died on April 4, 2024 at Transitions Hospice in Raleigh, N.C. She was 92 years old. She was born on September 20, 1931 in Lily, WI a daughter of the late William Childs and Ruth Baker Childs. Alma married Glenn Risdon on December 24, 1946 in Freeport, IL. He preceded her death on August 26, 1994. Alma and Glenn lived in Freeport for the first seven years of their marriage. In 1955 they moved to Antigo and started the potato brokerage and trucking business and in 1960 expanded the business to Plover, WI. Due to the demands of the business Glenn worked long hours and was often away and Alma raised the four children and managed the home in Antigo and at their lake property where they spent the summers. When Glenn's health declined, Alma oversaw the business until his passing in 1994. Alma then negotiated the sale of the warehouse full of bags, trucks and business properties. In 2022 she moved to Raleigh, NC so she could be near Beth, and where Mary could visit frequently. n and San Diego and the family enjoyed many summers on Bass Lake. She was a member the Antigo United Methodist Church, and the Bass Lake Country Club. Alma was a loving and supportive parent, grandmother and great grandmother and had a contagious laugh and great sense of humor. She is survived by two daughters, Mary (Roger) Steinfest of Chittenango, NY and Beth (Ralph) Eacret of Apex, NC; three grandchildren, Lisa Steinfest, Clayton (Michelle) Steinfest, and Robert (Megan) Eacret; four great- grandchildren, Colton Steinfest, William, Risdon and Audrey Eacret; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Alma was preceded in death by a son Robert "Bobby" Wayne Risdon; a daughter, Glenda Sue Risdon; two brothers, Henry and LaVern Gray; and four sisters, Virginia "Jenny" Irish, Eva Messer, Bonnie Ulman and Peggy Taggart. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 26 at 11 a.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home with Reverend Wes Jedras officiating. The burial will take place in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
