She was also known to "burn" a few cookies out of each batch; these cookies were given to the dogs. Needless to say, all of our dogs loved her right back. Joan loved the beauty of nature. She was especially fond of flowers and birds. She was a talented artist and would paint, draw, and embroider scenes from nature. She always had a beautiful flower garden and would share flowers and seeds with others. Joan and Larry planted a huge garden every year, and Joan would spend countless hours canning and freezing produce for her family and friends. One of the ways that she showed her love was by cooking delicious meals for people, and no one ever left her house hungry. Joan will be truly missed by everyone who knew her. When we think of her, we will remember her with a smile. Joan is survived by her husband, Larry and their dog, Scooby, her mother, Donna, and her siblings, John (Jill) McCallister, Kay Wenger, and Karen Thompson. Her surviving children include Jamie Towns, Amy (Travis) Johannes, Kelly (Les) Taylor, and Lana (John) Kinzebach. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Dr. Cheyenne Peters, Madison and Makenna Johannes, Warren (Mary), Weston and Max Taylor, Emmett and Tristan Taylor, Story and Haven Kinzebach, Kelsey (Cully), Beau and Magnolia Spears, and Samantha (Will), DeannaLynn, James and DanniLeigh Francis. Joan also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews, and other friends and family members. She was preceded in death by her loving father, John William "Bill" McCallister, and by her beloved sons, David and Brent Towns. Per Joan's wishes, there will be no services.
