With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Virginia Romero, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. A lifelong resident of Los Banos, Virginia departed this world peacefully on March 17, 2025, at the age of 78, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering strength. Virginia was born on June 27, 1946, to David and Clara Juarez, and grew up surrounded by the warmth of a close-knit family. Virginia's longtime career was as a case worker with Merced County, retiring after 22 years of service. She was a woman of many passions, finding joy in the simple pleasures of life. As an avid reader, you can find her reading her favorite Nora Roberts books. You could also find her on her tablet watching Korean shows and loved to keep in communication with others via Facebook. Her green thumb was evident in her vibrant garden, a testament to her nurturing spirit. Virginia was known for her tireless work ethic, always putting her heart and soul into everything she did. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, David and Clara Juarez; her brother, David Juarez; her sister, Barbara Guth; her husband, Olaf Olson; and her longtime companion, Louie Alarcon. She is survived by her loving son, PJ Romero, and his wife Laura; her devoted daughter, Margie Romero; her cherished grandchildren, Ashley Mitchell and her husband John, Marco Romero, Joshua Romero and his wife Samantha, and Marena Romero; her adored great-grandchildren, Marlee, Emily, Miles, Huxley, and Bowie; her dear sister, Bea Laguna, and her husband Martin; and numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart. Virginia's memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be remembered for her unwavering love, her infectious laughter, and her ability to find joy in every moment. A memorial service to celebrate Virginia's life will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 10 am at Whitehurst Funeral Chapel in Los Banos. In lieu of flowers or donations, the family kindly requests that you honor Virginia's memory by cherishing the time you have with your loved ones.
