Steven Duane Green died on March 26, 2025 in Iowa City, IA due to complications related to cancer. Born in Los Angeles, Steve grew up in Mesa, AZ and Joplin, MO, where he attended Memorial High School. He met Cheryl Greene in 1974 and they had two daughters, Heidi and Christina. Steve was the beloved godfather to his two godchildren Sapphira (Sassy) Jordan and Steven Olsen, who he helped raise to adulthood in the late 1980s and early 1990s in Springfield, MO. Steve held several jobs over the years, including working for Eagle Picher in Joplin for over five years. He also lived and worked in Columbus, KS; Springfield, MO; Rogersville, AK; and Bettendorf, IA. He eventually moved to the Iowa Quad Cities in about 2004 until his death. He was a very hard- worker for various industries: including packaging, construction, battery technology, transportation, warehousing, meat processing, landscaping, food, and steel foundry. Steve was a kind-hearted, gentle person who enjoyed music, being outdoors, driving his pickup truck, and watching westerns and television shows, especially NCIS. ceded in death by his parents, John and Lillian Green, both of Joplin, and by a sister, Barbara Shurtleff, of Orem, UT. Surviving family members include six siblings: Ginger Himmelsbach, Debbie (Gary) Gamble, and Judy (Mike) Gurley, all of Joplin; David (Venna) Green of Mesa, AZ; Tom (Leslie) Green of Beacon Falls, CT; and Diana (Kendall) Brockman of Neosho, MO; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
