David John Powers

Obituary David John Powers was born November 22, 1958, in Boelus, Nebraska at home to Geraldine and J. Lawrence Powers. When David was 3 years old, he lost his dad. His mom remarried Melvin Berlie, and he took on the role as Pops. He attended Boelus Elementary and graduated from Centura High School in 1977. In 1978, Dave married Colleen Ballard gaining a stepson Steven and they had 2 daughters Tonya in 1978 and Amanda in 1982. After 5 years they divorced. He married Nila Gifford in July of 1985. They had two children, Kimberly in 1986 and David in 1992. Dave had many jobs in his life from selling vacuums to mechanizing, farming, and construction. Starting in June of 2000 until his final days. He worked for Tom Porter as a millwright for Cimmeron Gas. David loved hunting, fishing, swing dancing, taking pictures and spending time with family and friends. On May 9th, 2025. God chose to take Dave while he was working on the farm. Dave is survived by his wife Nila, his kids Tonya, Amanda (Craig), Kimberly and David, Grandkids- Cynthia, Chelsey, Anika, Alexis, Leanna and Nila RoseMae, 7 great grandsons and 2 great granddaughters, 5 sisters and 3 brothers, many nieces and nephews.
