h three children, David, Mary, and James. Vince began his farming career in 1958. He loved to see things grow, whether it was crops of corn, soybeans, hay, or livestock of cattle, hogs, and sheep. Vince had a passion for service. He served as President of the Story County Farm Bureau, President of Story County Pork Producers, and was active in Story County Cattlemen's Association. Vince and Jean attended several American Farm Bureau Conventions. In 1983, Vince and his son David were named Iowa Master Pork Producers. In 2001, he was named Story County Cattleman of the year, in 2011 Vince and his wife Jean were named Iowa Master Farmers. Vince loved to volunteer. He served as a Cub Scout Cubmaster, a 4-H leader, was on the Red Cross Board of Directors, United Way Board of Directors, and had served as President of the Mary Greeley Medical Center Foundation Board. Vince was a member in the Ames Noon Rotary Club and had served as President and was also a Paul Harris Fellow. Vince and Jean traveled to Rotary International Conventions in San Paulo Brazil and Glasgow Scotland. He volunteered as a docent for Ames Historical Society and was a member of Hearth and Heather. In 1992, Vince received the Iowa Volunteer of the year award from Governor Branstad. Vince was a member of Collegiate Presbyterian Church and served as an Elder, Trustee and Deacon. Vince loved to sing and found great joy in participating in the Ames Gang of the Parkinson's Research singing group, led by Dr. Elizabeth Stegemoller. Vince is survived by Mary (Al) Warren of Ames, David, (Debra) Hassebrock of Ames, and James (Michelle) Hassebrock of Roland, 5 grandchildren, Joan, (Russell) Sherwood of Ames, Douglas Warren, (Tyler Johnson) of Ames, Joel, (Meagan) Hassebrock of Papillion NE, Brent (Laura) Hassebrock of Clive, and Natalie (Torran) Rasmussen of Story City, 9 Great Grandchildren, and was joyfully awaiting the arrival of another Great Grandchild in 2026. He was preceded in death by his wife Jean, and his brother Harlan.
