George Cardoni

George J. Cardoni, 85, of Green Bay, died Saturday, December 25, 2004. He was born Dec. 26, 1918, in Marquette, MI to the late John and Mary (Stenglein) Cardoni. George served his country in the United States Army from 1944 to 1945. He married Marie Ann Huot on Sept. 14, 1940, in Ishpeming, MI. She preceded him in death on Jan. 29, 2002. They moved to New Port Richey, FL., in 1981 until July 2000, when they moved to Green Bay, WI. The Cleveland Cliffs Iron Company in Ishpeming, MI employed George for 38 years. He had been a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ishpeming and also the VFW and The Elks Club. He was also a member of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church in Ashwaubenon. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, John (Nancy) Cardoni, Green Bay; one daughter and son-in-law, Sheila (Robert) O'Banion, Newnan, GA.; four grandchildren, Greg Karppinen, Kristen Gindlesperger, Janelle Carney, and Kelly Cardoni; three great-grandchildren, Chase and Grace Gindlesperger, Kady Piper Karppinen; one sister, Elizabeth Weiland, Marquette, MI; two brothers, Phillip (Hazel) Cardoni, Tucson, AZ.; Francis (Carol) Cardoni, Oswego, OR. receded in death by one brother, Jack Cardoni. Friends may call Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Lyndahl Funeral Home, Lombardi Ave. and Ridge Rd., where a parish wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday after 10 a.m. at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church where the Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James Hablewitz officiating. Entombment will take place at the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. Family always came first. Strong but gentle man. Wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be sadly missed. The family would like to thank Dr. Francis Lee and all the doctors and nurses at St. Mary's ICU, especially Andrea and Ann.
