Rose Marie Black

Rose Marie Black, 77, Green Bay, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2006 at St. Mary's Hospital after a courageous battle with ALS, Lou Gehrig's disease. She was born January 9, 1929, in Chicago, to the late Peter Janicek and Genevieve (Baranski) Skarban. On October 6, 1956, she married Robert (Bob) Black in Green Bay. Rose was employed as an installation dispatcher for the Wisconsin Telephone Company from 1947 to 1956. She was employed in the Court Commissioner's Office at the Brown County Courthouse from 1985 to 1997. Rose loved to cook, bake and sew. She enjoyed skiing, biking and hiking. She regularly went to fitness classes at the YMCA in Green Bay and at the RMMGC Fitness Center in Arizona. Rose and Bob spent the last eight winters in Arizona, where they often hiked in the Superstition Mountains. They traveled to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, nearly every year since 1985. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Richard DeNamur. Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 15, at Lyndahl Funeral Home. Visitation will continue after 10:00 A.M. Thursday at Bayside Church, 3475 Humboldt Road, where the funeral service will take place at 11:00 A.M.with the Rev. Garry Pierce officiating.
