Marie Catherine (Fitzgerald) Nolan, 87, formerly of Weyauwega, Wis., died Wed., March 28, 2007 at a local nursing home. She was born on May 25, 1919 in Manawa, Wis. to the late Timothy and Katherine (Garrity) Fitzgerald. After graduating from Manawa High School in 1938, she left her hometown of Lebanon, Wis., and attended Mercy Medical Nursing College in Oshkosh. She graduated in 1940. On Feb. 12, 1942, she married David James Nolan in Manawa; he preceded her in death on Aug. 25, 1985. Marie served as a Registered Nurse at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Appleton from 1960 to 1964. She was head of Nursing at Waupaca County Hospital in Weyauwega from 1964 to 1974 and retired from the Grand Army Home (now Wisconsin Veterans Home) in King in 1985, where she had been employed for 11 years. Marie was a loving wife, sister, mother and grandmother. She embraced her Irish heritage and loved sports, particularly the Green Bay Packers, Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the St. Louis Baseball Cardinals. and Sandra Nolan, Havre de Grace, MD, Terry and Emily Nolan, Ponte Verde Beach, FL, Tim and Beth Nolan, Casper, WY, Jim Nolan, Merrill, WI, J.P. and Gloria Nolan, Green Bay, and Gerry and Lisa Nolan, West Glacier, MT; 16 grandchildren: Shane (Robin), Ryan, Vera, John, Teri (Greg) Schopp, Scott (Maria), Matt, Lucas and Marcus, Tami, Jeremiah, Aaron, Jason, Katie, Mary and Mackey; five great grandchildren: Ian, Alexa and Nolan Schopp, and Timmy and Tommy; one brother-in-law: Marv Schultz, Green Bay; one sister in law Ruby Nolan, NC; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Marie was preceded in death by one sister, Patricia (Fitzgerald) Schultz, and two brothers, Mark Fitzgerald and Gerry Fitzgerald. Friends may call after 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2007, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Msgr. James Dillenberg officiating. Interment in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Lebanon. Marie's family would like to thank the nursing staff of the Special Care Unit at Woodside Lutheran Home for all their Loving Care.
