Shirley Penner

Shirley Jean (Stephan) Penner, 66, Village of Howard, died unexpectedly Thursday, April 2, 2009 at home. She was born April 8, 1942 to the late George and Hazel (Kruse) Voight in New London. She was married to William Stephan and he preceded her in death in 1970. She married Russell Penner in 1997 and he preceded her in death four months later. Shirley enjoyed gardening, playing cards, taking care of her lawn and watching the Packers. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her dog Josie Jean. Survivors include one daughter and two sons, Lori Stephan; Steve (Pat) Stephan; and Todd Stephan and his partner, Russell Rabitoy; nine grandchildren, Layne (Jeremy) Bohm; Lance Treankler; Makenna Kroge; Jay (Monica) Huettl; Holly (Brent) Meidl; Ashley Stephan and Brook Stephan; and Billy and Karlie Stephan; one great-grandchild due in July; four sisters and one brother, Judy (Mike) Haase; Bonnie (Lorenz) Starfeldt; Barb (Dean) Marcks; George (Kathy) Voight; and Debbie (Mark) Brandt; her mother-in-law, Florella Stephan; sister and brother-in-law, Ed and Deloris Chizek; a brother-in-law, Robert Schmidt; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. call after 3 pm Saturday, April 4, at Lyndahl Funeral Home where the funeral service will take place at 6 pm with the Rev. Don Behrendt officiating.
