Virginia McKeefry

Virginia McKeefry, 91, Green Bay, died Wednesday, October 14, 2009. She was born February 10, 1918 to the late Walter and Katherine (Smurawa) Bartkowiak. On September 12, 1942, Virginia married Russell McKeefry in Syracuse, NY. He preceded her in death on February 13, 1978. She was employed by St. Joseph School for 10 years and worked as the supervisor for the Golden Age Club for 25 years. Virginia was an avid local, state and national bowler. She played cards regularly with Allouez Community Center. In addition to volunteering for various local organizations through RSVP, she was a past Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader, past President of the West High School Music Association and past President and longtime member of St. Joseph's Altar Rosary Society. McKeefry, Green Bay; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Virginia was preceded in death by one sister and brother-in-law: Tillie and O.M. Harrison; one brother and sister-in-law: Richard and Sue Bartkowiak; parents-in-law: Daniel and Martha McKeefry; brothers- and sisters-in-law: Jack Kirby, Leo Wengrzyn, James Van Straten, Harvey and Dorothy McKeefry, Alvin and Audrey McKeefry, and Doris and Clarence Corroy. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 18, 2009 at Lyndahl Funeral Home where a parish wake service will take place at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at 9:30 a.m., Monday, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1484 Ninth Street, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Conrad Kratz officiating. Entombment in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. A memorial fund has been established. Virginia's family wishes to thank the staffs of Rennes Nursing Home, Angels Touch (especially Katie), St. Vincent Wound Care Center, Heartland Home Care and Unity Hospice for their care and compassion.
