Richard Nelson

Richard �..."Dick” A. Nelson, 88, of Green Bay, passed away at home Saturday, February 26, 2011. He was born September 26, 1922, in Green Bay to the late Andrew and Lillian (Dewey) Nelson. Dick grew up in Eagle River, Wisconsin, where his parents owned and operated a Chevrolet dealership. They moved to Green Bay where Dick graduated from West High School. He entered the United States Army and served in World War II, with an honorable discharge from Fort Brag, NC. He attended St. Norbert College, where he graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Education. He would later receive his Masters in Education Administration from UW Madison. Dick married Mary Lou Bishop on August 25, 1951. He spent 37 years with the majority in the Ashwaubenon School District as an elementary School Principal at Cormier School. Dick enjoyed golf, musky fishing, and spending time outdoors and being with his family and friends. dy, Curt, Christine, Nichole, Jacob, Joshua, Jordan, Elizabeth, and Ashley. 6 Great grandchildren: Teshonne, Isaiah, Marcus, Tre’, Safiya, Quadir. 3 neices: Cathy (John) Stollberg, Kerry (Steven) Boothe, and Sandy Nelson. He was preceeded in death by sister, Marguerite Goddard, brother, Robert, and nephew, Douglas Nelson. Friends may call Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 341 Wilson Ave. from 10 am to noon. Funeral service will take place at noon with Rev. Diane Rew officiating. Entombment will take place at Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. A memorial fund has been established in Dick’s name. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Home Instead and Unity Hospice for all their care and concern given to Dick.
