Nancy Fry Florman
Nancy Fry, 60, of Aventura, died Tuesday, September 29th at Mount Sinai Hospital in Miami Beach after a lengthy and courageous struggle with complications from cancer. A South Florida resident for many years, Nancy was the daughter of Floris M. Fry, a career Army Infantryman, and Dr. Ruth Eckmann Fry, a college professor. Because of her father's profession, Nancy was born at Ft. Hood, Texas and was fortunate to grow up in a variety of cities, including San Francisco, Tacoma, Berlin, Germany, and Tampa. Nancy attended Plant High School in Tampa and was an alumna of the University of South Florida. She was a director of MILICO Insurance company in Atlanta, and more recently was employed as a grants coordinator at the University of Miami's Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science. In addition to Atlanta, she and her husband had also lived in San Antonio, and Redington Beach, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, and survived by her husband Nils K. Florman, Jr., of Aventura and brother, Dr. Michael Fry of Pensacola. and Thea Rosa Hamre of Eden Prairie, MN, and Rachel, Leah and Caleb Colvin of Pensacola. Active in community theater all her life, Nancy was an accomplished actress and an award-winning director. As a director, she was particularly proud of her productions of Night Of The Iguana for the Conyers, Georgia Depot Players, and Driving Miss Daisy at the Saint Petersburg Little Theater, which was a Tampa Bay Lary Award winner for direction. An expert sailor and yachtswoman, Nancy cruised much of the Caribbean and all over the Southeast coast of the United States during her lifetime. She and her husband spent several months in 2004 cruising throughout the Bahamas on their trawler, “Second Act.” Nancy developed her love for animals as a little girl, and was a lifelong enthusiastic supporter of pet adoption and spay and neuter programs.http://videos.lifetributes.com/92404
