Clarence William "Bill" Miller was born July 17, 1922, in Bancroft, Iowa, the son of George and Catherine (Wilhelmi) Miller. He grew up in Bancroft and attended St. John's High School graduating in 1940. After his schooling he began to farm in the area.
In 1944, Bill joined the military and began to serve his country in the United States Army. Bill served during the Korean War and was honorably discharged on June 15, 1952. He returned to the area and continued farming between Bancroft and Swea City until 1987, when he retired and moved to Algona.
Bill enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, bowling and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and a past member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of St. Cecelia Parish.
Bill died on Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at the Good Samaritan Society ~ Algona, where he had been a resident since August of 2010. He was 89.
He is survived by his sisters, Irma Fields of Williamsburg, Virginia; Claire Cady of Iowa Falls and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
