Roger was born near Russell, Iowa on the family farm by the LaGrange School to Herman and Bernice Robuck DeBok. He worked at the Hy-Vee Distribution Center for 40 years, where he met Marjorie Culbertson. They were married at the Baptist Church in Chariton on August 16, 1961. Roger and Marjorie were blessed with four daughters: Cindy, Veronica, Yvonne, and Karla.
Roger enjoyed tinkering in his workshop, always trying something new. He repaired lawn mowers, built furniture, and invented many handy gadgets. He and Marjorie liked to camp and go to country music festivals. They started and ran the Derby musical festival for 6 years. Roger loved children and enjoyed helping Marjorie baby-sit for many years. The Drake children were always special to Roger. Roger will be remembered by many being dressed up as a clown in parades, at fairs, and other events.
Roger passed away on July 19th at his home. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Marjorie; daughters: Cindy Cox of Chariton, Veronica (Jim) McMahon of Duncanville, TX, Yvonne (Dale) Childers of Advance, IN, and Karla Hawk (Jim Vavra) of Eddyville; 8 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.
