Leonard Van Syoc

Memorials to Mercy Hospice - Johnston Lyle Leonard Van Syoc was born December 16, 1941 in Marshalltown to Lyle B. and Faye Van Syoc. He graduated from Milo High School in 1959. Leonard was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He married Patricia Ohnemus on December 5, 1970, they were blessed with a son Aaron Dean Van Syoc. Leonard worked at Massey Ferguson in Des Moines for 10 years. He attended DMACC for computer training and then worked for Norwest Banks as a computer specialist. He enjoyed watching news and political programs and playing cards. Leonard and Patricia also enjoyed camping and fishing. Leonard passed away at the Mercy Hospice in Johnston on January 7, 2011 at the age of 69. He was preceded in death by his father Lyle, brother Richard, grandson Adam Dean Van Syoc, and father-in-law Dean Ohnemus. Leonard is survived by his wife Patricia; mother Faye Van Syoc of Milo; son Aaron (Sarah) Van Syoc of Milo; grandchildren: McKenzie, Mariah, and Ahrik; sister Karen (Bob) Endres of Des Moines; mother-in-law Juanita Ohnemus of Knoxville; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.[more]
