Ervin "Penny" Schneider was born September 23, 1923, to Victor and Myrtle (Spaulding). Penny farmed and hauled coal in the Melcher-Dallas area in the early 60's. He worked at the Melcher-Dallas Lumberyard, Bingham Feed & Grain, and dug graves by hand for over 40 years. He is the only one that dug his own grave and kept it in the top of the garage until he needed to use it.
Penny enjoyed square dancing, frequent trips to Kansas to visit his friend Betty Scheve, and playing with his great grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing solo.
Penny passed away March 24, 2011 at the Pleasant Care Center in Pleasantville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva; daughter, Marge Gass; son, Harold Schneider; and siblings: Ed Schneider, Charlie Schneider, and Evelyn Capaul.
