Elsie (Smeins) Scarrow, 88, of Dumont, Iowa, passed away December 14, 2011, at the Franklin General Hospital in Hampton, Iowa. She was born February 5, 1923, in Butler County, Iowa, to Ben and Fannie (Potter) Smeins. Elsie graduated from the Dumont High School in 1941. She was united in marriage to Lyle Scarrow on January 6, 1945, in Crystal Lake, Iowa. Elsie worked as a homemaker. She was affiliate with the Dumont Methodist Church in Dumont, Iowa. Elsie enjoyed reading, baking pies, playing cards, but most of all she enjoyed bragging about her grandsons and great grandchildren. Elsie is survived by her daughter Virginia (Keith) Kalkwarf of Aplington, daughter Grace (John) Rosenstock of Dumont, grandson Todd (Deb) Kalkwarf of Aplington, grandson Joel (Sarah) Kalkwarf of Parkersburg, grandson Brian (Kristen) Rosenstock of Brunswick, Ohio, great grandchildren Cassy, Morgan, Lexis, Kendra, Brayden, and Kennedy Kalkwarf, Lyla and Aubrey Rosenstock, sister-in-law Viola Smeins of Loveland, Colorado.
