Frances Louise Hermes

Frances Louise Hermes, 93 of Kahoka, formerly of Keokuk died at 6:50 am on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at the Clark County Nursing Home in Kahoka. She was born on March 18, 1918 in Powdertown, IA the daughter of John W. & Amy Kearnes Rooney. Frances marred Hollie O. Thomas in 1938 and later married Walter B. Hermes in 1955 in Ft. Madison, IA. They both preceded her in death. Frances was a lifelong area resident and worked at Huiskamp Shoe Factory, Irwin Phillips, Shaeffer Pen Co., Iowa Ammunition Plant and was a Licensed Day Care operator. She is survived by two sons: Frank L. Hermes and his wife Sharran of Revere, MO and Walter B. Hermes II of Phoenix, AZ; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Besides her two husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son, three sisters and two brothers. Her body has been cremated. Graveside services will be at Hill Crest Cemetery in Ft. Madison at a later date. [more]
