Fredrick G. "Fred" Bowen, 70, of Warsaw, IL died at 4:45 A.M. Thursday, December 22, 2011 in Grand Forks, ND. He was born on November 27, 1941 in Quincy, IL the son of Glenn Oakley and Margaret Christine Bosse Bowen. Fred married Karen J. McMillen on June 8, 1963 in Bowen, IL. He was a lifelong area resident. Fred worked as a farm hand for many years and also worked at Seither & Cherry, Steel Castings and Tri-Tech. He was currently working as a millwright welder at Wanzek in Grand Forks, ND. He is survived by his wife Karen of Warsaw; two children: Gordon Bowen and his wife Cindy of Keokuk and Tammy Nelson and her husband Tim of Warsaw; five grandchildren: Crystal McGee and her husband Mike, Alisha Bowen, Autumn Bowen and her friend BJ Billings, Gage Bowen and Tyler Nelson; three great grandchildren: Austin, Taylor, and Keelin McGee; one brother: Larry Bowen of Mendon, IL; two sisters: Mary Ohnemus of Mendon, IL and Pam Donley of Quincy, IL; father-in-law: Melvin McMillen of West Point, IL; three brothers-in-law: Merle McMillen of Bettendorf, IA, Dennis McMillen of West Point, IL and Randy McMillen. ceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be at 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center with Pastor Mike McMillen officiating. Burial will be at a later date in South Cemetery in Basco, IL. Visitation will be after 3:00 P.M., Wednesday, with family meeting with friends from 6 to 9 P.M. at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center at 917 Blondeau Street. A memorial has been established.
