June V. King

June Violet Bailey King, 96, of Iowa City, formerly of Middletown, died Friday, December 23, 2011 at University Hospitals, Iowa City. Mrs. King was born June 1, 1915 in Des Moines County, the daughter of Orrin and Violet Williams Bailey. She married Howard King in 1933. They later divorced. She was a graduate of Danville High School.She attended college while working for an area school library cleaning film. Mrs. King worked at Foelingers Studios in Burlington, tinting pictures. She later worked at the National Research Bureau and at Stoermers in the crafts department. She was accomplished in needlepoint and crochet and was active in Players Workshop where she was awarded several trophies for best character actress. Mrs. King is survived by three sons, Bruce (Bertha) King of New London, Dick King of Clinton, and Royce King of Burlington; two sisters, Charlotte Temerario of Columbia MD, and Joanna Fortin of Cromwell, CT; and nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
