Richard DeWayne Swick MUSCATINE, Iowa--Richard DeWayne Swick, 84, of Muscatine, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2012, at his home in Muscatine. Memorial Service will be held at11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at the New Hope Church. Following the memorial services a luncheon will be held at the church. Memorials may be directed to New Hope Church in Richard's name. The Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements. Richard DeWayne Swick was born on February 28, 1927, in Muscatine, the son of Grover C. and Bessie A. Blake Swick. On March 6, 1948, Richard was united in marriage to Mildred "Corky" Schmelzer in Muscatine. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the United States and Japan. Richard had worked for Grain Processing Corporation and then Muscatine Power and Water, retiring in 1984. He was a lifetime member of the Muscatine Moose Lodge and the VFW. Fishing and camping had been his pastime. He also enjoyed spending time with his special boys' children.
