John W. Lentz

John W. Lentz, 83 of Keokuk, Iowa, died at 11:30 AM on January 30, 2012 from a brain hemorrhage at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. John was born July 8, 1928 to Minnie Potts and Chester Lentz of Rochester, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, three brothers, a sister, a niece, and wives Shirley Mae Lentz and Maxine Lentz. He is survived by his wife Betty Lentz of Keokuk, Iowa; two sons David (Lanie) Lentz of Surigao, Philippines and Larry Bice of Pikeville, Tennessee; two daughters, Loretta (Michael) Caruthers and Lydia McDaniel (Kenny) White, both of Keokuk, Iowa; one granddaughter Jamie (David) Wells of Keokuk, Iowa; three grandsons Jason Caruthers of Wayland, Missouri, Martin McDaniel of Keokuk, Iowa and Robert Lentz of Kankee, Illinois; three great-granddaughters Angela Graves, Rebecca Caruthers, and Emily Caruthers. John served in the Air Force from 1949 to 1953 and was stationed in Guam. He also served in the Marines for three years before entering the Air Force.
