Larry Nielsen

Larry Wayne Nielsen, son of John and Marie (Case) Nielsen, was born December 2, 1949 at Grape Community Hospital in Hamburg, Iowa. He passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at the age of 56 years at his home in Shenandoah. Larry spent his life in Southwest Iowa; growing up in Hamburg and later moving to Shenandoah. He worked many jobs through the years, including Vogel's Popcorn, Sawyer Grocery Store, Excel, and Con Agra. Larry spent his spare time reading and watching movies. His favorite authors were Louis L'Amour and Zane Gray and he loved any type of western. Larry was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his good friend, Regina Bennett; three daughters, Diedra (Dee) Renee Resh and husband Bill of Shenandoah, IA, Sonja Nielsen of Hamburg, IA and Shannon Burgett and husband Eric of Lewiston, NE; two brothers, Jerry Nielsen and wife Elaine of Missouri Valley, IA and Bill Nielsen and wife Sue of Hamburg, IA; four grandchildren, Kaylea Resh, Elijah Resh, Charlie Resh and Jonathon Burgett along with many other family and friends. Words of comfort were given by Dr. Charles Peterson. Caket bearers were Larry Hertensen, Larry Ware, Dennis Gresham, Joe Bergen, Bill Welchans, T.J. Kinison and Kyle Sparks. Interment was in Walnut Cemetery.
