Lyle Green

Lyle Douglas Green, son of Roy Orsen and Mable Dorothy (Dahlgren) Green, was born on May 20, 1948 in Hamburg, Iowa. He passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 on the family farm north of Shenandoah, Iowa at the age of 63 years, 7 months, 21 days. The Green family lived on a farm north of Imogene at the time of Lyle's birth. In 1950 the family moved to Sioux City, Iowa before moving back to Shenandoah in 1951. In 1952, they purchased the family farm north of Shenandoah where Lyle would reside the majority of his life. Lyle attended the Shenandoah Community Schools graduating with the Shenandoah High School Class of 1966. On February 7, 1968, Lyle was drafted into the Army during Vietnam. He was stationed at Fort Louis in Washington. He received the National Defense and Sharpshooter Rifle Medals. Following his Honorable Discharge from the Army, Lyle worked for J. C. Penney's in Shenandoah. When Penney's closed he immediately began working for Bernie's Gambles Store. m to care for his mother, Mable. He cared for her for over 23 years until her recent passing in October of 2011. Preceding Lyle in death were his parents. Survivors include his two brothers, Ronald Green and his wife Kathy and Curtis Green all of Shenandoah; sister, Atoya Oliver and her husband Steve of Sac City, Iowa; 16 nieces and nephews; 17 great nieces and nephews; and innumerable friends and loved ones.
