Rita Adele Youngwirth was born on July 14, 1924, at Wesley, Iowa, to George and Bernice (Dolan) Vitzthum. Rita was schooled and graduated from Wesley High School. She then worked in Illinois at an Army Depot making ammunition. She was united in marriage to Luke Youngwirth in St. Paul, Minnesota. The couple farmed near Wesley for many years. Rita was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wesley where she was a member of the C.D.A. Rita enjoyed playing cards, having coffee with friends, visiting with neighbors and friends, and spending time with grandchildren. She was a huge Hawkeye fan and enjoyed happy hour once in a while as well as Gummy Bears. Rita's house was always the gathering place for family and friends. Rita died at the Hancock County Hospital in Britt on Sunday, February 12, 2012, at the age of 87. Survivors include her children, son Dennis Youngwirth and wife Mary (Ellie) of Wesley; son Tim Youngwirth and wife Liz of Bancroft and daughter Lisa and husband Jeff Elbert of Chicago, Illinois as well as nine grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
