GARNER - Helen A. Boman, 86, of Garner, formerly of Forest City, passed on to eternal life to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at the Boone County Hospital in Boone. Funeral services will be held 1:30 P.M., Friday, March 9th at First Baptist Church in Forest City with Pastor Doug Snyder officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 P.M., Thursday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E. 4th St., Garner and will continue one hour prior to services at the church. Helen Arlene Boman, the daughter of Leonard and Anna (Rasmussen) Nelson, was born August 30, 1925 at Forest City. She graduated from Forest City High School in1943 and continued her education at Bemidji State Teacher's College. On August 20, 1948 she was married to Milton Boman at the First Baptist Church in Forest City. They made their home on a farm east of Forest City where they raised their three children. Besides helping on the farm, Helen taught school, worked at the hospital in Mason City and operated her own maternity store, "Mr. Stork", in Mason City and Waterloo. g, Helen and Milton moved to Garner. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and was an avid collector. She will always be remembered for her charismatic smile and loving devotion to her family and her compassion and kindness to others. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and belonged to Dorcas Circle. Helen is survived by her husband, Milton, of Madrid; three children, Cynthia (Bob) Cramer of Boone, Wesley (Cherie) Boman of Klemme, and Trudy (Thomas) Burford of Johnston; grandchildren, Reynolds, John (Gina), and Erika Cramer, Sally (Michael) Lynick, Katie, and Betsy Boman, Thomas Ryan (Tiffany) and Anna Burford; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Kruta of Minnesota and Marion (Herbert) Amundson of Mason City; an aunt, Ardis Anderson of Forest City; and nieces and nephews. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Central Iowa or the Boone County Hospital Foundation.
