Martin Dale Veenker IOWA CITY, Iowa--Martin Dale Veenker, 77, of Coralville, passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Lone Tree. Burial will take place in Lone Tree Cemetery, with full military honors provided by the Lone Tree American Legion Post 457. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at the funeral home. Martin Dale Veenker was born on January 12, 1935, in George, Iowa, the son of Ralph Andrew and Bertha Mae Martin Veenker Sr. On January 19, 1981, Martin was united in marriage to Helen Hensley. He worked on various construction projects and was later the safety manager on construction sites. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Helen Veenker of Coralville; his children, Deb Shaw (Joe Galloway), Lori Haynes (Tee), John Wayne Herrington, Sr., John Herrington, Jr. (Heather Moore); grandchildren, Shiloh Kennedy (Craig), Joshua Herrington (Amanda), Oklahoma and Corey Shaw; 14 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a brother Ralph Veenker Sr.; six sisters, Catherin...[more]
