Lester J. Carpenter AUTIN, Minnesota -- Lester J. Carpenter, 78, of Muscatine, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2012, at his daughter's home in Austin, Minnesota. Funeral Service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 12, 2012, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Burial will be in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery with Military rites by the V.F. W Post 1565. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 11, 2012, at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Lester's name. Lester James Carpenter was born on October 24, 1933, in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of John and Emma Haller Carpenter. He proudly served his county in the US Navy from m1952-1956 aboard the U.S.S. Hank. On July 9, 1960, Lester was united in marriage to Joyce L. Martin in Muscatine. He had been employed by Thatcher Plastics for many years. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion and enjoyed going to the casinos and in his earlier years, hunting, fishing and bowling.
