Robert J. "Bobby Joe" Filloon, 52, of Maquoketa, Iowa, died on Monday morning, March 19, 2012, at his home in Maquoketa, Iowa. A celebration of his life will be held at 2 P.M., Friday, March 23, 2012, from the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 P.M. on Thursday, March 22, 2012, from the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa, Iowa. Burial will be in the Pence Cemetery, rural Baldwin, Iowa, where full military rites will be accorded. Robert Joseph "Bobby Joe" Filloon was born on November 10, 1959 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Robert Oliver and Wanda Kay (Welch) Filloon. He grew up in Monmouth, Sabula and Preston, graduating from Preston High School in 1979 where he had been the football manager. Following graduation, he worked for a short time at the Meinerz Creamery in Preston. He then began a 7 year tour with the U.S. Marines Corps. After a short break, he returned to military, this time with the Army Reserves and then the U.S. Army. operator for Hoof Products in Maquoketa for several years. He then completed truck driving training school at Scott Community College in Davenport, and drove truck for Bullock's, Inc. in Maquoketa. He later worked for 17 years at Wenger Truckline in Davenport. While working at Wenger's he had the nickname and handle of "Fuzzy". "Bobby Joe" was a member of the Andrew AMVETS Post #62 and the First United Methodist Church in Maquoketa. He was an avid NASCAR fan with Rusty Wallace as his favorite driver. He loved to spend time with all "his kids" (his nieces and nephews), attend stock car races, dancing, baking and sewing. He also enjoyed going to the Dairy Queen, was known as a joker and was always the "center of attention". He was a good son, brother, uncle and friend. "Bobby Joe" is survived by his mother, Wanda Cass of Maquoketa, IA; a brother, Mark (Jody) Filloon of Lost Nation, IA; a sister, Machell (Daniel) Williams of Maquoketa, IA; 11 nieces, 12 nephews; 19 great nieces and nephews; and his former wife and good friend, Laurie Nethery of Dubuque, IA. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Oliver Filloon, a brother, James "Jim Bob" Filloon, a nephew, Johnathan Filloon, a sister-in-law, Robin Filloon, and his maternal grandmother, Beulah Mae Welch Darrow on February 18, 2012.
