Roy Brockman

Roy Edward Brockman, one of nine children of Carl William and Fanny Tina (Speet) Brockman, was born at his parent's home west of Carson, IA on September 24, 1909. Roy attended Pleasant Valley country school near Carson and he began farming with his father until 1942. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps at Ft. Leavenworth, KS and served until his discharge at Sioux Falls Army Airfield at Sioux Falls, SD on October 14, 1945. Roy served as an auto equipment operator during WWII in the Battles of Naples-Foggia and Rome-Arno and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the EAME Ribbon in 1943. Roy returned to Carson to begin a truck driving career with Clausen Brothers Trucking at Treynor, IA. He later became a partner with his brothers George and Walter and established Brockman Trucking of Carson and in 1960 added the Brockman Brothers Coop Service Station which was located on Highway 92 in Carson. Roy retired in 1975. Roy had been a member of Carson Post #556 of the American Legion and the Council Bluffs Iowa Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and was a member of the Zion Congregational Church in Treynor. brother, brothers George Brockman, Louie Brockman, and Earl Brockman; sisters Lena Schroeder, Margaret Limburg, and Velma Kirchoff. He is survived by his brother Walter Brockman and his wife Beulah of Carson; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
