Kenneth Evans

Kenneth William Evans, the youngest of ten children of William Thomas and Belle (Jones) Evans, was born on January 29, 1906 at Toledo, MO. Kenneth attended public school in Toledo and at the age of 17 left home to work in the wheat fields in Kansas. After working several years, he and his friends traveled to California for a short time. In 1926 and 20 years old, Kenneth boarded a train and moved to Silver City, IA where he worked on a farm for Guy Custer. Kenneth and Marjorie Mass Evans were united in marriage on September 9, 1929 in Logan, IA. They made their first home on a farm near Silver City and in the 1940's moved to a farm in the Hastings, IA area. Kenneth and Marjorie enjoyed gardening, working and living on their farm for 27 years. In 1975, Kenneth retired and sold the farm. Prior to his 80th birthday, he and Marjorie moved to a home in Malvern, IA. Kenneth was a 50 year member of the Silver Urn Masonic Lodge and he and Marjorie were members of the Order of Eastern Star. They had been married 57 years when Marjorie died on September 22, 1986 at the age of 75 years. Kenneth continued to live at his home in Malvern. He died on May 28, 2002 ...[more]

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, brothers Orville Evans and Antha Evans, sisters Addie Overman, Ada Pettet, Emma Bunyard, Ora Duckworth, Julia Rae Evans, Bertha Duckworth, and Ida Wilson. Kenneth is survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ervin and Natalie Schoening of Omaha, NE; nephews Wendell Schoening and his wife Chris of Kearney, NE and J. R. Evans and his wife Joyce of Bonner Springs, KS; niece Maxine Evans Larson of Los Angeles, CA; and many friends.
