r at Pacific Junction while continuing to operate his own farms. Bob always had a strong love for working and farming. In 1998, Bob retired and a year later, he and Maxine moved to their present home in Glenwood. Bob's past and present memberships included the Glenwood American Legion, the Glenwood V.F.W., and the Plattsmouth Eagles. Bob was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease and eventually moved to the Manor of Malvern Care Center in July of 2002. Bob and Maxine had been married almost 52 years when Bob died at the Care Center on October 20, 2002. He had attained the age of 78 years, 6 months, and 27 days. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Louis Carnes and wife Della, and Dennis Carnes; sisters Edna Severn and husband Clarence, Bessie Severn and husband Lester, Francis Keeton and husband Lloyd, Ruth Ann Chaney and husband Roy; brother-in-law Carl Edie; sister-in-law Elaine Carnes; and grandson Jon Michael Carnes who died October 23, 1978. Bob is survived by his wife Maxine; son Mike and his wife Debra; daughters Pam Madison and her husband Brick all of Glenwood, and Diane Beattie and her husband Steve of Malvern, IA; grandchildren Natalie Jones and husband Aaron of Omaha, NE, Nic Carnes, Clint Madison, and Corey Madison all of Glenwood; great granddaughter Olivia Jones; sister Dorothy Edie of Stanton, IA; brothers Dick Carnes and his wife Nellie of Mountain Grove, MO, Walter Carnes and his wife Donna of Denison, TX, Hank Carnes and his wife Audrey of Plano, TX, and Kenneth Carnes of Tabor; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
