Clara Wright Waters

Clara B. Wright Waters, the daughter of Mildred Davidson, was born in Marsh, Missouri on August 7, 1932. Clara grew up in Brookfield, Missouri where she attended school. In July of 1949, Clara and Lloyd Wright were married in Brookfield. Their marriage was blessed with daughters Susan and Sharon. The family moved to Omaha, Nebraska where they were blessed with sons Mike and Randy. Clara and Lloyd moved once more to Missouri Valley, Iowa and were blessed with sons Steve, Dave, and Jack. In 1966, the family moved to Oakland, Iowa and later to the Carson, Iowa area. Clara enjoyed her role as a homemaker and mother. While the boys were in school, Clara took classes to complete her GED Certificate. Mother and sons often helped one another with various classroom work. In March of 1985, Clara and Roland Waters of Carson were married in Las Vegas, Nevada. They made their home in Carson, and Clara's family grew by the addition of her stepson Bill Waters. Clara enjoyed cooking, and is credited with feeding half the people in Pottawattamie County. ©. Later Clara worked as a security guard at the Ameristar Casino in Council Bluffs, Iowa. In addition to cooking, Clara also enjoyed playing bingo and visiting the area casinos. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and could always be found at their school activities. Clara died at her home on November 5, 2002 having attained the age of 70 years, 2 months, and 28 days. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, her mother, her infant daughter Susan Wright and granddaughter Traci Wright. She is survived by her daughter Sharon Stickler and her husband Jack of Clarinda, Iowa; sons Randy Wright of Atlantic, Iowa, Mike Wright and wife Beverly, Steve Wright, and Jack Wright all of Carson, Iowa, and Dave Wright and wife Tami of Oakland, Iowa; stepson Bill Waters of Colorado; 20 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; and special friend Leah Stephens of Carson.
