Rickie Clark

Rickie Eugene Clark, one of seven children of Marilyn Elizabeth (Clark) and Howard Bertram Clark, was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on September 16, 1951. Rickie grew up in Glenwood and graduated from the Glenwood Community High School in 1970. Following school, Rick worked as a custodian at the high school and at the Standard Service station in town. He began work as a switchman for the Burlington Northern Railroad in Pacific Junction, Iowa in 1970. When the Pacific Junction station closed in 1979, Rick moved to Creston, Iowa where he was the yard master. He later moved to Lincoln, Nebraska working as the dispatch supervisor in the rail yard there. While in Lincoln, Rick met Kathleen Ann Walkowiak of Grand Island, Nebraska. Rick and Kathy were married in Glenwood on September 18, 1987. They made their home in Lincoln and Rick retired from the railroad in 1988. He worked at several different jobs and in 1991, Rick and Kathy moved to Malvern, Iowa. He loved to work on his SS Chevelle and was always tinkering under the hood. Rick and Kathy had been married 18 years when Rick died unexpectedly at their rural Malvern home on December 10, 2005 at the age of 54 years, 2 months, and 24 days. Rick was preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn Clark. Rick is survived by his wife Kathy of Malvern; father Howard B.
