nd friends. She was an active Girl Scout Leader, the Girl Scouts' Neighborhood Chairman and a member of the Sweet Adeline's Choir. Betty and John enjoyed traveling and activities with their friends in the Rambling Rose Camping Club. For many years, they hosted jam sessions at "The Farm" near Macedonia. Betty worked at the J. C. Penney store in Shenandoah, until it's closing, and then at the J. C. Penney catalog store, accumulating 27 years of service, until her retirement. Betty and John were married 53 years when John passed away at home in Shenandoah on July 17, 2008. Betty passed away at the Shenandoah Medical Center on November 8, 2010 at the age of 73 years, 11 months and 30 days. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband John Jefferis; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Parham and husband Tom, and Yvonne Jefferis; brother-in-law James Jefferis; and foster daughter-in-law Natalie Stitzel. Betty is survived by daughters, Debra Brewer and husband Kenneth of Shenandoah, Carole Lynne Tribbie and husband Darrol, and Connie Hirst and husband Terry, all of Malvern, IA; foster sons, Kerry Stitzel and wife Teresa, and Rob Babcock, all of Shenandoah; six grandchildren, Jon Brewer and wife Trish and daughter Morgan of Olathe, KS, Mindy Brewer and fiancé Phil Fix of Shawnee, KS, Shawn Jeffers of Malvern, Jennifer Barbour and husband Ryan and children Lilly and Ellie of Tabor, IA, Amanda Hirst of Malvern, and Alisha Blake and husband Michael of Shenandoah; sisters, Barbara Walker and husband Lanny of Council Bluffs, IA, Denise Sasse and husband Dennis of Griswold, IA, and Kellie Hendrix of Henderson, IA; brother Allen Hendrix and wife Rebecca of Council Bluffs; sister-in-law Beverly Jefferis of Council Bluffs; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
