Geraldine E. Clark

Geraldine Elaine Clark, one of eight children of Ann Marie (Womboldt) and Thomas Fort, was born on August 25, 1918 in Red Oak, Iowa. She grew up in Red Oak and attended school through the eighth grade. Geraldine worked odd jobs and cleaned homes. Geraldine and Marion Robert Clark, better known as "Bud", were married in Rock Port, Missouri on December 7, 1935. They made their home in the Hastings, Iowa area where Bud farmed until 1957 when they moved to the Mulholland farm south of Malvern, Iowa. Their marriage was blessed with five children, Marian Elaine, Charles William, Janice Louise, Thomas Lester, and Steven Wayne. Geraldine enjoyed caring for her home and family. She raised a large vegetable garden each year and the family was treated to her homemade cooking, canning, and baking. Everyone enjoyed her monster cookies and homemade breads. Geraldine enjoyed flowers; red roses and lilacs were her favorite, and she loved shoes. Her children were dear to her heart and "Grandma Jerry" enjoyed being able to baby-sit her grandchildren. ve in their home until moving to Red Oak, Iowa in 2000. Due to declining health, Geraldine moved in 2007 to the Good Samaritan Center in Red Oak, where she passed away on December 8, 2010. She had attained the age of 92 years, 3 months, and 13 days. Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bud; sons, Tom Clark and Charles Clark; brothers, Edward Fort and wife Marjorie, Marvin Fort and wife Betty, Gordon "Corky" Fort, and Thomas Fort; sisters, Eileen Fort, as a child, Nadine Oakleaf and husband Ruben, Maxine Christiansen and husband Bill; brothers-in-law, Leo Clark, Roy Viner and wife Ruby, and Charlie Clark; and sister-in-law Rhea Clark. Geraldine is survived by her children, Elaine Campbell and husband Robert of Lincoln, NE, Janice VanMeter and husband Harold of Red Oak, IA, Steve Clark of Littleton, CO; sister Marilyn Lee of Creston, IA; half sisters, Twila Erickson and Sherry Bradway, both of Council Bluffs, IA; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Fort of Clarinda, IA, Della Fort of Lake Villa, IL, and Nina Clark of Glenwood, IA; brother-in-law Harold Clark and wife Adeline of Falls City, NE; seven grandchildren; many great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other relatives and host of friends.
