Robert B. Taenzler

Robert Burton Taenzler, the fourth of eight children of Reverend Jacob Warren Taenzler, Sr. and Mary W. (Heer) Taenzler, was born on April 20, 1934 in Colfax, Iowa. He grew up in many towns including Plattsmouth, Nebraska and Glenwood, Iowa and graduated from Glenwood High School in 1952. Bob enlisted in the United States Army and served for two years during the Korean War. He worked for the Omaha Stockyards following his discharge. Bob attended Peru Teacher's College where he received his Bachelor's Degree. Then he went on to complete his Master's Degree during the summers, attending various colleges. He taught 7th grade math at the Glenwood Middle School until his retirement in 1993. Bob and Karen Kay Tilson were married on June 4, 1961 in Mynard, Nebraska. They made their home in Glenwood and their marriage was blessed with four children, Robert Jr., Deborah, Kathryn, and Kristen. Bob and Karen were married 23 years, when Karen passed away on October 3, 1984. Bob passed away at Hospice with Heart in Glenwood on February 11, 2012 at the age of 77 years, 9 months, and 21 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife Karen; sisters, Pat Lipsett and husband Dick, Betty Smith, and Mary Potts. Bob is survived by his children, Robert Taenzler, Jr. and wife Cheryl, Deborah Johnson and husband Paul, and Kathryn Holaway and husband Mike, all of Glenwood, and Kristen Morrison and husband Dave of Plattsmouth, NE; eleven grandchildren; one great grandchild; sisters, Phyllis Harold and husband Richard of Glenwood, Margaret Hart and husband Don of Atlantic, IA, and Julie Schneckloth and husband Ron of Omaha, NE; brother, Jake Taenzler and wife Barbara of Glenwood; and other relatives and friends. Memorials suggested to First Christian Church, Council Bluffs or Deaf Mission.
