Helen M. Hansen

Helen Marie Hansen was born December 21, 1930, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Alfred and Pauline (Leonard) Chehak. She was schooled in Davenport, Iowa, and as a young lady, moved to Algona where she worked as a nanny. She married Carl Hansen on January 22, 1951, in Algona and the couple later divorced. Helen worked as a CNA at the Good Samaritan Society ~ Algona and for a short time at the Hy-Vee bakery. She worked in home health care for many years, always concerned and caring for older people. Helen enjoyed crafts and sewing, circle the word puzzle books, drinking coffee with her friends at Daylight Donuts, line dancing and Elvis Presley movies and music but in her words "Family is my big thing!" Helen was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona. Helen became a resident of the Algona Manor in August 2010, and died at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona on Tuesday evening, April 3, 2012, at the age of 81.
