PATRICIA COLLINS MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Patricia Ann Collins (Mrs. Max Collins), 86, of Muscatine, died on Thursday, May 10, 2012, at Lutheran Homes. Funeral Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, May 14, 2012 at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Teressa Clark of Faith United Church of Christ will officiate. Private Entombment will take place in Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. on Monday, May 14, 2012, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Muscatine Marching Band uniform fund, in care of the Muscatine Band Boosters, PO Box 811, Muscatine. Patricia was born on August 31, 1925, in Jewel, the daughter of Raymond and Eva Mae Spillman Rushing. She married Max A. Collins on April 15, 1945, and they had one child, Max Allan Collins, Jr., on March 3, 1948. Pat had been a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, where her husband served as choir director, before the couple joined the Faith United Church of Christ. She was a 45-year member of the P.E.O. sisterhood, chapter FC Muscatine, a member of the Lady Elks, Eastern Star, Muscatine Hospital Auxiliary, Geneva Golf and Country Club, and was a volunteer in ...[more]

y civic organizations. She enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, going to movies and plays, attending Hawkeye football and basketball games, and especially spending time with her grandson, Nathan. She was very supportive of, and active in, her husband's concerts and productions with the Elks Chanters. With her husband, Pat was extremely encouraging of her son Allan's writing ambitions. She will be deeply missed by her son, Allan Collins and his wife, Barbara, of Muscatine; and one grandchild, Nathan Collins and his fiancée, Abby, of St. Louis, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2000; a brother, Richard Rushing; and sister, Beth Povlsen.
