at the Battle of the Bulge and earned a purple heart with two oak clusters as well as other medals. He served as chapter and state executive Commander of Ex- P.O.W.s for many years. He was a member of the American Legion. He worked in sales and finance. He was instrumental in bringing the first municipal golf course to Muscatine. He was the first pro and greens keeper at Muni. He also worked at Kent Feeds in advertising and as the manager for Kent Eliza Feed Mill for eight years. After retirement he was devoted to caring for his church and helping in many ministries, and caring for the grounds and buildings. He was a member of Ss. Mary and Mathias Parish. He was an avid golfer his whole life, winning multiple tournaments. He enjoyed coaching kids, bird watching, and also enjoyed nature. Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Mary Dwyer of Muscatine; two sons, Gerald Dwyer and wife, Kathryn, of Missoula, Montana, and Patrick Dwyer of Davenport; two daughters, Kathleen Fahy and husband, Jeff, of Muscatine, and Janice Bryant and husband, Gentry, of Colchester, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Brett (Dwyer) Wolever, Lucas Dwyer, Emily Ann Dwyer, Mathew Fahy, Nicholas Fahy, Sarah Fahy, Gabriel Kerr; two great-grandchildren, Oliva and Owen Wolever; and one sister, Lucille Albert and husband, Frank, of Bloomington, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Timothy, on February 12, 2011; and eight brothers and sisters.
