Channing C. Walker, age 90, of Davenport, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2012, at Heartland Healthcare Center in Moline, Illinois. He was born on October 12, 1921, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Dr. Charles and Ora Walker.
Channing was a member of the state championship swimming team for Roosevelt High School in 1940. He attended the University of Iowa and graduated from the University of Arizona with a Law Degree in 1946. After a brief law career in Baxter, Iowa, he settled into the insurance business, as an adjuster for Ohio Casualty and later State Auto.
The biggest loves in life were training his four Boston Terriers in obedience and agility. He especially enjoyed his years living in San Diego with his wife and Boston Terrier. There will be no service held at this time. A private memorial will be held at a later date.
Channing is survived by his son, Kurt Walker, and his wife, Shirley, of Davenport; niece, Jody Lyon of Chicago, Illinois; nephew, Tom Lyon of Chicago, Illinois; granddaughters, Heidi Reid, and her husband, Chris, of Rock Island, Illinois, and Monica Ruddy, and her husband, Dave, of West Branch; and a great-granddaughter, Claire Ruddy.
