Sarah Catherine (Kate) Breed passed away on July 4, 2012 at age 99. Sarah was born December 15, 1912 in Scott County, Mississippi; She was the fourth of eight children born to Martha Dukes Fortenberry and Lewis Gold Fortenberry. She married Grady M. Breed in 1928 and had five children. Grady Glendon Breed, Barbara Marie Bailey , Rose Virginia Alter , Catherine, "Kitty" Lay , and Johnnie Sue Glantz. Sarah and her husband moved to Hollywood in 1956 with her youngest daughters. She was employed by F W Woolworth, Co. from 1957 until retirement in l997. Sarah lost her husband in l968. The love of her family and friends sustained her through this time. She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church in downtown Hollywood for over 40 years. She enjoyed serving on church committees and cherished the friendships made with members during these years. After her retirement, Sarah enjoyed traveling with her family and especially enjoyed taking cruises with her family and friends. Sarah is predeceased by her husband, Grady M. alatka, FL, and Johnnie Sue Glantz, Hollywood, FL Sarah had a loving relationship with her sons-in-law; J.L. Bailey, Lou Alter, Norman Lay, and George Glantz and her daughter-in-law, Wilma Breed. She gave them her love and respect and in return, received the same. Sarah had 17 loving grandchildren. She was especially close to her granddaughters, Polly Poynter, Kathi Garrett, Debra Morton, Donna Johnson, Sarah Nelson, Susan Glantz Volk, and Jennifer Glantz. Sarah is predeceased by four loving grandsons, Grant Breed, Tim Breed, Pat Breed, and Max Bailey. She is survived by her grandsons, Jesse Bailey, Robert Bailey, Steve Breed, Jeffrey Breed, George Breed, and Joe Scarborough and by 21 great grandchildren and 25 great-great grandchildren. Sarah was a devoted wife mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and aunt. She was loved deeply by her family. She held her friends dear and close to her heart. The family especially thanks Mary Collins, Louise Irving and Miriam Green for their loving care and special friendship. She will be remembered with love and will continue to inspire all those who were blessed with her love and friendship. A Funeral Service will be held at 11am at Fred Hunter's Hollywood Memorial Gardens 6301 Taft St. Hollywood, Entombment to Follow at Hollywood Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
