Mrs. Marjorie June Isom, 90, of New London, died Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at Great River Medical Center, West Burlington.
Mrs. Isom was born December 28, 1921 in Salem, the daughter of George Edward and Bessie June Elmore Abrisz. On May 24, 1942 she married Everett Isom. He died April 11, 1984. She was a 1939 graduate of Salem High School and Ft. Madison Community College which she attended on a basketball scholarship. She worked as a bookkeeper at the New London and Mt. Union elevators. She enjoyed dancing, working in her yard, remodeling homes, and her dog, Muffin.
She is survived by one brother, Dennis (Jean) Abrisz of Green Bay, WI; three sisters, Macel (Chester) Anderson of Mt. Union, Clarice (Calvin) Jackson of Lubbock, TX, Dianne (Kenneth) Kracht of New London; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three brothers, Darrel, Larry, and Gary.
According to her wishes, her body has been cremated and private inurnment will be held at a later date in Burge Cemetery. There will be no visitation or service. A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Association.
