Louis D. Wagner IOWA CITY, Iowa--Louis D. Wagner, 81, passed away Monday evening, August 13, 2012, at University of Iowa Hospitals. Funeral Service will be 12:00 Noon on Friday, August 17, 2012, at Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services, Muscatine, Iowa. Burial will take place at the Rock Island National Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. with a luncheon at 11 a.m., on Friday, August 17, 2012, at the funeral home. Louis was born on April 23, 1931, the oldest child of August Louis and Eunice Easter Allen Wagner. As was his father, Louis was born on the family farm in Eliza Township, where his son Larry Wagner and wife, Nancy, still live. Louis Duane and Gertrude Eileen Lockmiller were married on July 27, 1951. He served his country in the Korean Conflict, as a Master Sergeant, earning The Bronze Star Medal, as Chief of Firing Battery from November of 1952 to October of 1953. He attended the University of Illinois earning a BS degree in Industrial Engineering. Louis was diagnosed in 2007 with MDS (RC-MD). wife, Gertrude Wagner; his son Larry Wagner and wife, Nancy; his daughter, Miriam Hedlund and husband, Howard; a granddaughter, Jenna Wagner; a grandson, Wesley Wagner and wife, Heather; three great-grandsons, Colton, Dagan and Myles Wagner; two sisters, Marcelia Ripley and Mary Ann Trudell; and two brothers, Wendall Wagner and wife, Kil Sun, and Dwight Wagner and wife, Susie. He was preceeded in death by his parents and two brothers, Carl Wagner and August Richard 'Dick' Wagner.
